A Boat, a Lake, and the end of Summer....

We finally took the boat out for a test drive. We are still here so you know it did not sink.
Needs a little engine tune up and a couple more little items but it is ready to set sail.
It was a nice calm Saturday morning on Lake Mead, wow, look how low the water is, it is like someone pulled the plug on our great big bathtub!
I think I can fill a whole album with all my feet and water photos...too funny!

Damn, look at that Dam
O Captain, My Captain (name that movie!)
Tomorrow is my sad day, summer is at an end, the leaves will fall, the wind will blow, and I will drag out my sweaters and socks and brace myself for the harsh beating from winter.....
take shelter my good friends......

San Diego, salmon and scrapping....

I went to San Diego for a scrapbook retreat over the weekend with my sister.
It was put on by Patti over at Scrappin Escapes

Her retreats are so fun and she picks the best places to go!
We had 3 days at the LaJolla Marriott, highly recommend this place if you are headed to SD. The rooms were beautiful and comfy, the food there is 5 star. You can walk over to the mall, and you can walk 1/2 mile to Bristol farms for snacks and wine.
We had a nice stay, very relaxing, we got a lot done in our books and we took advantage of the hot weather and swam in the pool each day! Next stop Ontario Expo in October!

The view from my room, sunrise!
Christy scrapping away
Me, scrapadoodling...
Dinner drinks, Riesling and Prosecco

Cheers to scrapbook retreats!

Cream of mushroom soup and ceasar salad, best soup I have ever had!!!

The salmon and creamed spinach, oh lordy, that spinach had carmelized onions and pancetta!!

Loved this shot of Prosecco, the bubbles just fell like a waterfall!

Stay tuned for more fun in the sun!

Cooking with music on a boat

Pan Bagnet-french picnic sandwich
This is a recipe for this scrumptious sandwich, you hollow out a bread bowl loaf, add layers of meats and veggies, wrap tight and put something heavy like a cast iron skillet on top in the fridge overnight, the next day you have this wonderful layered sandwich, so good, I made 2! A meat and cheese one, and a veggie and cheese one, it is so easy and so impressive looking, great for a potluck!
I am going to share the blog I got this from, her recipe has photos to go along with so you can see exactly how it is made:

Christy and Tanya on the Beach at Mandalay Bay...we all took in a great concert with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin bands, what a rocking good time that was!!!

In other news my hubby bought a boat, a 2006 Bayliner Bowrider 19.5 footer. I cleaned her up and we replaced the stereo, bimini top, and 2 cusions, and she is good to go, I can't wait to be lounging on the lake!

Time to get some work done around here, I have a couple scrapbooking trips coming up so I better get packing!
