It's been a Rockin' Good Time!

When I got home from my cruise, Tanya scored tickets to Ted Nugent out in Primm, so Tanya, Erin and I piled in her car and went out to see the old rocker....Uh, someone forgot to tell old Ted he is 62! He rocked that house!! He was amazing, and loud, but it was all worth it to hear him sing "Stranglehold".
Wow, that was a fun concert!

Next on our list: The one and only, MeatLoaf!!!
This was a rushed ticket buying, so it ended up just me and Tanya going, I had called her from Phoenix when I saw Meatloaf was playing in our town but she had to get online and grab them by noon that day..so she grabbed two tickets and we sat 10th row center stage! That was fantastic! He is also an old rocker, but he was fun and entertaining and we all had a blast singing along to "You took the words right out of my mouth, it must have been while you were kissing me" He really played with the crowd on that one! I am so glad I got to see him! I just knew he would be great, and as a bonus we got to see his daughter Pearl play before him, she is a little rocker herself, she slowed it down to play a Bonnie Raitt song, a huge favorite of mine as well, Angel from Montgomery, that was beautiful!

Ok, One more for August:
My Chris Isaak, he is so dreamy.....I love, love, his music! Again it was just me, Tanya and Erin, everyone was afraid it would be too hot for an outdoor show, boy, they missed the best Isaak show ever!
His music is perfect music for lounging at the pool...which in this case, we actually were lounging by the pool! He played at the M resort in Henderson, this is a gorgeous outdoor venue. A beautiful pool, then seating and the stage, he went on at 9pm and the soft lighting and little breeze off the pool water was just perfect! He was made for this place and he sang his heart out for us, as usual, this is about my 20th time to watch him and he never ceases to mesmerize me!
What a Rockin' Good Time August has been, thanks to my husband and family and friends, you fill my life with Peace, Love and Music!

Last one on Alaska!

Ok, last one and I will put my Alaskan adventure behind me, are you bored yet?
Trust me.....This one is exciting!! Sorry so Long but it is a great story!!

The highlight of our alaska cruise was going to be dog sledding on top of the denver glacier, to get to it... we first needed a helicopter ride, then we would get to actually drive a dog sled, then helicopter back down! Trip of a lifetime and 500.00 to experience!! Christy and I had no problem choosing that as one of our excursions once we knew we were headed to Alaska! Money is no object when dealing with furry animals in our family!

So the day finally arrives when our boat docks in Skagway, AK. We get off the boat and board our bus that drive us to the helicopter launch area, we go inside and get a safety lecture and are issued life vests and safety boots, we gladly put them on!! We are assigned numbers in which to get on the helicopter, I am number 5, my astrology info says number 5 is a good number for me, so I am very happy! We take our seats and off we go...WOW, I am actually flying in a helicopter, first time for me!! Christy and Ronna are old school at this, but not me, I am nervous, scared but so intrigued, I love heights and views. I always ask for the highest floor when getting hotel rooms and my favorite place to eat in Las Vegas is the top of the stratoshphere, it was just the flying part that scared me. But soon we are buzzing along over lakes and ice and climbing up to 4000 feet to our landing pad...but wait, it is all foggy and they have to land out more instead of at camp, so now we have to get in a track cat contraption and get driven to the dog camp, no problem, just another adventure to cross off my bucket list!

We arrive in camp, the dogs are everywhere, we meet our musher, sweet girl named Megan, she has been mushing a long time, her first dog is still in camp and is 16 years old! Sorry, the names of the dogs are strange and I cannot remember any of them. She shows us the sled and lets us get comfy, christy stands in back, I sit and Ronna rides up front with Megan, and off we go!! Wow, I am on a dog sled being pulled by iditarod winning sled dogs!! We stop and rotate positions and meet the dogs, they are sweet and lovable!!

On to more sledding and then we get back to camp to meet some puppies, oh they smell wonderful!! Gotta love new puppy smell!!

Then we are rushed off to get back to the helicopters, we pile in the cat tracker and head to the side of the mountain for pick up....but wait, no heicopters are there, we hear them coming but then they turn and go back down the mountain, we cannot see them as the cloud coverage has dropped our visibility to about 30 feet.

They explain to us the helicopters cannot see to land and we may be camping here for the night....UH...Excuse me??? No, no, there must be a mistake, I did not sign up for that excursion!!! Let me say, Christy is beside herself giddy at the prospect of sleeping with 500 sled dogs for a night, but me, not so much....I like the comfort of my ship's cabin and the fabulous meals for dinner and the clean room and hot shower....please let the helicopters come back, please!!!
And soon my prayers are answered and my hero arrives, I tell him I love him and he is my hero! I think he is used to that kind of treatment!

He delivers us back down the mountain to safety and one hell of an adventure is forever in my memory!
Hope you enjoyed my Alaskan Adventure, and if you ever get the chance to go cruise to Alaska, go and make it the trip of a lifetime, like we did!!

Alaska Classes!

Well, since this was a scrapbooking cruise, I guess I should let you see what we made! Teresa Collins is an amazing teacher, she gives and shares unconditionally! Reminds me of my jewelry teacher here at home! (http://www.beadmetaler.blogspot.com/)
We made an advent calendar to count down the days to Christmas:
Then we made some albums, a celebrate album, a travel ledger and rememberence album, they are fabulous, she gaves us an extra kit and one of the girls turned it into an accordian album so we followed suit and had a blast!

All the pages of each album are embellished and we binded them with the Cinch Binder, we also got to make our own rubber stamp using teresa collins own stampmaker machine on sale now, go to http://www.teresacollins.typepad.com/ for details!! I will never forget this wonderful trip!!

I was lucky enough to go on an alaskan cruise, paid for last year when business was good, business is still very slow but I have some wonderful memories to share of this fabulous trip, a trip I will be forever grateful to my wonderful husband who lets me go off on wild adventures!
My sister and jeff, a friend ronna and myself headed out of Seattle to board royal caribbean ship: rhapsody of the seas...it was a scrapbook cruise put on by http://www.scrapmap.com/ and we had an amazing teacher with us, the one and only Teresa Collins of http://www.teresacollins.typepad.com/ she is an amazing person and so giving of herself!
So it may take a few post to get all this journey out so bare with me! It was 7 days...I went whale watching, dog sledding on top of a galcier, and more whale watching!

Bon Voyage!

I am headed on a little trip, the hubby is staying home to hold down the fort!
He likes to send me off on adventures, he wants me to learn how to manage the travel world so that when he retires we can travel and he won't have to do anything but get on the plane, trian, or boat! He is a smart man!
I am not going to go in to details of where I am going, just know I will be back soon and I will have tons of photos to share with you!

Here is a necklace that I made to honor my fallen Captain Phil and a sweatshirt I will be wearing once I arrive in Seattle, Phil's home port. That is just one little stop and I know I will need a sweatshirt as it will not be 103* and I don't do well when it is not 85* or higher!

Flights of Fancy...

That's what my husband wanted me to name this necklace, but I decided on Nesting Bird, I feel she is gathering up little trinkets to pretty up her nest!
She is now in my etsy store, ready for a new home, she comes with 5 interchangable beads to match any outfit you decide to wear with her...
